Today we paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
We started our day with an assembly, we listened to the news announcement on newsround and found out more about the amazing life she lead. We then watched our favourite video of the Queen with Paddington Bear.
This morning we spent our time creating memorial cards for the Queen. We chose our favourite image of her and then took time and care to draw her. On the other side of our artwork we wrote a passage of writing for the Queen. We chose to either write a memory, a reflection or a prayer to show our thanks and appreciation for the life she lead and her devotion to our country.
Each class created a set of memorial cards for the Queen and then Mrs Williams, Mrs Burroughs and Mrs Harris laminated and threaded them on some ribbon and hung them outside our school on the fence. They made a beautiful memorial for everyone to come and see.
At lunchtime we listened to the church bells ringing to remember the Queen. We had a minutes silence together to reflect on our feelings about the day.
Then after lunch we used Plymouth Live to watch the 96 gun salute commemorating every year the Queen was alive… it was loud but amazing!
